A global financial institution requested Myna’s support in creating a global data inventory framework to enable the capture of key attributes of the information life cycle of related personal data for customers and employees. This request followed a divesting of the company and the need to understand the personal data landscape across the organization.
The client had also recently acquired a technology solution to support the data inventories and was requesting additional support in designing and configuring this platform.
our approach
Working with the client to maximize efficiencies and minimize the resource requirements of the client.
- Myna undertook initial meetings with the engagement sponsor to identify in-scope business units and identify key-stakeholders to be interviewed in the data gathering workshops.
- Our team configured the client’s data inventory software platform using Myna’s data inventory framework.
- We pre-populated information based on documentation provided; validated the information and completed the data inventories by conducting a series of stakeholder data gathering workshops.
Program Outcomes
- Configured data inventory platform, customized to the client’s requirements.
- A user guide and configuration manual to ensure comprehensive knowledge transfer.
- Completed personal data inventories covering 15 business units and over 45 processing activities.
The inventories captured:
- An overview and description of the processing purpose.
- The lifecycle of the personal data for each process; collection, storage, use, sharing, protection, retention and destruction.
- Third Parties and vendors that receive and process the personal data.
- IT assets that provide support to each of the processing activities.
